The DGV course license: entry, procedure and costs
The DGV course permit is considered a "driving license" for golfers and is required to play on most courses and become a member of clubs.
In around twelve lessons, a pro teaches the basics of technique, rules and etiquette before an exam with theory and practice sections follows.
The official DGV rule book or app is recommended for preparation, and individual lessons with a trainer can also be useful.
While the course itself is still comparatively inexpensive and equipment is provided, many beginners invest in their first clothing.
Once you have passed the course test, the actual costs arise: club memberships (from around 200 euros for long-distance memberships, from 1,000 euros for full memberships), green fees of around 40 euros per round and expenses for clubs, shoes and accessories.
Despite these expenses, golf is more affordable today and comparable to other expensive leisure activities.
