Golf shoes have a long tradition. The first golf shoes for men were developed as early as the middle of the 19th century. In general, special synthetic materials are often used in the midsole area to cushion the impact on the foot and joints during movement and to support the swing. Depending on the nature of the surface, spikes or a deep sole profile may be necessary to ensure a secure grip and optimum movement. Golf shoes with spikes are often preferable to a sole with a profile or studs, as the latter cannot always provide the best possible grip on wet greens.
